Drama-Small

TERM 1

Content

During the first half of the term students will develop skills covering a range of genres including; Naturalism, Epic Theatre and Devising. They will develop a deeper understanding of playwrights and practitioners such as; Berkoff, Brecht, Artaud and Cartwright. After half term students will continue to develop their explorative strategies, elements of drama and drama medium in order to create performance.

 

Skills

Component 1: Devising – students will continue to prepare a devised piece for performance to an invited audience.

Component 3: Written Exam – students will see a live piece of theatre and generate evaluative notes in preparation for written exam questions in Year 11.

 

TERM 2

Content

Component 1: Devising – students will continue to prepare a devised piece for performance to an invited audience.

Component 3: Written Exam – students will see a live piece of theatre and generate evaluative notes in preparation for written exam questions in Year 11.

 

Skills

Students will continue to develop their explorative strategies, elements of drama and drama medium in order to create a devised performance.

Students will develop an inquiring mind in order to reflect upon a piece of live theatre performance. They will evaluate all aspects of the piece, including production elements.

 

TERM 3

Content

Component 3: preparation for written exam

Students will study one play text, selected provided by the exam board. They will explore the text practically and theoretically in order to deepen their understanding of the play.

 

Skills

Students will explore a range of practical skills associated with the selected play text. They will be provided with exam style questions with an aim to develop their written analysis of the text.
